TStamp Starter is here — free, self-hosted time tracking
TStamp Starter is now available: a free, self-hosted time and hour registration app for small teams. No trial period, no seat fees, no catch — it's free for teams up to 10 active employees, for as long as you use it.
Why we built it
TStamp grew out of an older, well-worn time-tracking tool that a lot of small Norwegian businesses have relied on for years. We rebuilt it from the ground up — Windows desktop today, with Android and iOS on the way in TStamp Standard — while keeping the thing people actually cared about: a simple, fast way to register hours without fighting the software to do it.
What's in Starter
- Windows desktop (WinUI) client
- Fully self-hosted — your own SQL Server Express, your own server, your own data
- Up to 10 active employees
- Free forever — never billed, no license required
How it's set up
TStamp Starter runs on your own network, not in someone else's cloud. One computer acts as the server — the installer sets up the database and web service on it automatically. Everyone else just installs the small client app and points it at that machine; there's nothing to configure on their end beyond that.

Why free, and why now
We'd rather put TStamp in front of real teams early and learn from how it's actually used than polish it in private for another year. Starter is deliberately free and unrestricted in time so that small teams can just start using it — and if you hit something confusing, missing, or broken, that feedback shapes what we build next.
If your team outgrows Starter later, upgrading to TStamp Standard or TStamp Pro carries your setup forward — there's no rebuild or re-onboarding involved.
Getting started
We've put together a short introduction video and how-to guides for the most common setup steps and everyday tasks, so a new team can be up and running without guesswork.
